So much to talk about today... We had a fabulous July 25th ... We woke up on Sunday early, jumped in the shower, through make-up on and ate a quick bite for breakfast while waiting for our friend Steve. Oh yeah and got dressed...
We had decided Saturday night to drive to Burg Eltz a beautiful castle about an hour and a half from the hotel... The country side in Germany is breath taking... we drove by vineyards on gorgeous hill sides that are so steep, the workers have to be tied on with ropes at the top of the field, to work on the vines.. We traveled along side the Mozel River with its large slow moving tour boats. Along side the road are field after field of wheat, corn and other green crops... The road we took to this stunning castle drove us through several small quaint villages. The roads can be very narrow with several curves... Going through these charming villages is a great way to see Germany.. We arrived at the castle around 9:30 in the morning. It's a bit of a walk with a very steep paved road down to the castle.. and I mean steep! We walked down, took pictures along the way and enjoyed all the views.. we took a tour through the castle (that I would suggest everyone takes), took lots and lots of pictures, ate lunch which I wasn't impressed with and hiked in the forest around the castle... Then it was back up the hill to the car.
They have a shuttle we could of taken, but we all wanted the exercise. Yeah right! I thought I was going to die! From there we drove to Trier..

Lunch at the Castle...

Trier Cathedral.. This Cathedral is exquisite in every way.. We were able to go inside walk around, take pictures, enjoy all the fabulous marble carvings and beautiful ceilings.. It's a wonderful place to visit.

One of the ceilings in the Cathedral..

Porta Nigra in Trier just a couple blocks
from the Cathedral..

Central Court Yard in Trier.. The Cathedral, Porta Nigra and this charming court yard are all in the same area which was really nice for our tired legs.. We walked around and took pictures of the elaborate architectural elements that are on some of the stores, along with flower boxes with graceful and colorful flowers busting over the edges of the railings... It was GREAT!
We left the court yard and drove back to the hotel.. we arrived around 7:00pm tired and hungry.. So off to our favorite Greek dinning spot.. What a fabulous day!!!

For my darling daughter.. my flower for you!

These are along the road side every where here.. they are wild and I think of them as summer snowflakes... each one is different (just like snow flakes) with hundreds of tiny flowers on each stem....

wake up with a refreshed body and happy mind...talk at ya soon
