Heidelberg Germany

Well again it's been a couple weeks since I have talked to you... So lets see.. two weekends ago we went to Heidelberg Germany with Steve, Rebecca and Sarah.. There is a castle there we all wanted to see. It's about and hour and a half drive, so not to bad.. Part of the castle is in ruins. The French came in years ago and destroyed everything in the town but one house, a church and the bridge pillers. But even the part that is in ruins is beautiful. At some time years ago, the castle was struck by lightening that did a lot of damage.

We took a tour and we were all glad we did... We learned so much more from taking the tour... Makes you appreciate the castle more when you know what you are looking at.. It's incredible that people could do such beautiful work back then. I think I enjoyed the statues the most.. Even they tell us a story...

It was a wonderful day outside.. the sun was out, it was a little foggy at times but that kind of added to the mystic setting of the castle. The grounds around the castle were amazing as well... The castle over looks the city and the large muddy river with its fabulous bridge.

After leaving the castle, we ventured down the hill to the town of Heidelberg. There are lots of nice shops to entice the wandering tourist to come into. The street was full of people going in all directions... We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe which was on Steve's list of must does.... I had a great hamburger.. It was the first one I've had since leaving the States.. Man, was it good....

After dinner we walked through some of the shops.. We found this neat sweet shop that made these things that were about the size of a soft ball. It was like strips of baked dough wrapped around to form a ball and covered with different toppings. Some had chocolate with carmel, some with sugar and cinnamon, there was several different ones to choose from. We had to try one, of course.. It was very good..

I think the guys got a little shopped out following us girls around so they found a park bench to perch on and waited for us to shop our little hearts out...

The day was most excellent....

nighty night....
