London...Sunday

This was the day I've been waiting for, for so long. I've alway wanted to see London and not just on T.V. or in picture books.. but to be there, walking down streets where Kings and Queens from centuries ago have walked. Touching the old stones of the past and reminiscing about their lives.

What better place...Then London.

The four of us, Steve, Sarah, Mason and I met down stairs in the restaurant for a bite to eat before starting our adventure. The hotel has a wonderful buffet style breakfast set up with everything you can amagine. Dryed cereal to eggs and baccon. We knew it was going to be a full day of walking and wanted to make sure we started the day right with full and happy tummies.

We talked about what we wanted to see and Steve our guide ( who lived in London for four years) headed us off to what promised to be a very exciting day. Outside it was cloudy, a little windy and looked like rain so with umbrellas in hand we left.

First things first, we needed to find out how long it was going to take us on Monday to get Rebecca to where she needed to be to take her test. So, we went there and timed it, so the next morning we could get her there on time. She had to be there at 8:oo in the morning.

From there we took the tubes to Westminster Abby, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. They are all together so one tube ride and I was right where I wanted to be.

There are over seven million people at home in the Cities of London.. I never know London was so big.. It's not only big but it's enormous.

First stop, Houses of Parliament. The Palace of Westminster is among the world's most famous buildings. The first palace was built for Edward the Confessor, who came to the throne in 1042. The Palace of Westminster was engulfed in a fire in 1834. Sir Charles Barry rebuilt in the Gothic splendour. Yet again, some of the buildings were distroyed in the Second World War. (just a little history)

Then there's Big Ben.. You can't miss it.. Big Ben, is the voice of London and has been telling the time to the second since 1859. Construction of the tower began in the year Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837.

We arrived just before noon.. and everyone who visit's Big Ben wants to hear him chime.. We were no different. So... we waited and 15 minutes later, Big Ben was doing his thing. The bell sound is beautiful. Life stands still for just those few seconds. Everyone stops to enjoy the beautiful sound.

There is so much to see in this area. Every where you look there is something amazing.. I do love London.....

Then my favorite, Westminster Abbey.. I've alway loved watching the royal weddings on T.V. They are so breath taking... like a fairy tale... with a real live prince and princess.
Westminster Abbey was consecrated on December 28, 1065. It's a striking building with all it's beautiful windows, statues and carvings. The size alone is impressive.

We didn't go inside the Abbey until the next day. There was so many places to see, that we spent the entire day and night just walking, enjoying all the sights, eating, people watching and listening to the British people talk.. I love how they sound. So, proper! Can't tell you know nice it was to be around people I could understand.

More stories later.... sweet dreams
