I'm no longer a bum... Friday I went to a job fair at the hospital. They were hiring people for all the Child Youth Services for the Military Bases.. and I was one of the 39 people they hired... There is a large turn over with all the military people moving in and out of the area. I have never worked with kids before so I thought I'd try it... I miss my grandkids and hope that this will help fill that void in my life until I move back home...
It was a busy day on Friday. After the job fair, I had to get shots (TB, Flu, Tetanus and blood work) and set up appointments for finger printing (back ground check) and physical. WOW..
Today (Monday) it was get my TB shot checked, vision checked and a tour through the center.. Tomorrow it's hearing.... Wednesday I'll have the day off. Thurday I have an appointment at the Occupational Health center ( why, I'm not sure). Then I'm done until my physical appointment the following week... That's a lot of needles and stuff.
News about the weekend:
Saturday night we went with Steve and Ruth to a German/Air Force Band Concert. (My Dad would of loved it.. ) Ruth's son plays in the community bank here in Steinalben so she invited us to come along with her. It's amazing how through music the language barrier disappears... It just doesn't matter who you are, music brings people together. I have gone to several of my Dad's concert in Yakima and one thing I noticed that was very different between the American band and the German band was the Americans tap their toes to the beat of the music and the Germans do not do this at all... The Germans sit very still in their chairs.. (just thought that was interesting).
The name of the Air Force Band is Wings of Dixie and they were very good.. (they played a little to long but other then that it was a nice evening out...)
Sunday nights we go to Steve's house for Sunday football... It doesn't start until 7:00pm here so we only watch one game... It's fun and gives me a feel of home...
Back to Monday:
I just got back from a very nice walk through the neighborhood and into the forest. I just love Fall.. the leaves and the trees and the fresh air... what a wonderful time of year... As I looked through a group of trees across the village on the other side of the valley in an open meadow, there were hundreds of deer grassing in the sunshine... I was not the only one out enjoying the nice fall day....! I only walked about 2 miles then turned around, I didn't want to walk to far into the forest by myself. I was afraid I'd get lost...
It's almost time for me to go pick up Mason from work..
enjoy your sleep..
