Last night we got a ton of snow.. over 6 inches!
The snow was almost gone and I was feeling like my chances of having a white Christmas was pretty much gone.. but then at last, another fresh blanket of that beautiful white stuff...
I know driving in it isn't much fun, but it's so pretty, and it brings back great memories of my childhood growing up in Alaska... I remember my mom going out and making us ice rinks in the back yard, playing in the snow mounds after the snow plow cleared the parking lot at the apartments where we grew up .. We would dig out tunnels and crawl through them, play king of the mountain on them and just had so much fun playing in the snow... Oh, and how could I forget to mention making snow angels and sleding down the Big hill.. You won't find me playing king of the mountain or sleding down a big hill any more but you will find me taking walks through the forest.
The air is so crisp and everything is so still, all you hear is the sound of your own footsteps... it's just one of those moments to remember...
Mason and I walked about half a mile up a road that leads into the forest around Steinalben.. We were hoping to see a deer or two but no such luck.. We did see deer tracks... that counts, right!
We walked this same road just a few weeks ago when the leaves were turning colors. It was pretty then too. It's wonderful to see the forest change from one season to another and be able to enjoy it's beauty.
If the roads allow us to travel, tomorrow we are going to Metz France to go to an Antique Flea Market.. I hope we will have time to stop on the way home and walk through the Christmas Market in Trier Germany. We will leave the house around 5:00 in the morning.. The Flea Market is from 6:00 am until 12:00pm. They have it once a month. We haven't been to this one before and Gus (this man we met) told us it's worth going to... So we'll see...
Enjoy your day.. do something for yourself even
if it's small....
