Our plan was to leave the house around 5:00am today and head for Metz France for an antique flea market.. Well I got up at 4:00am, looked out side to find two more inches of new snow and still snowing very lighty. I crawled back in bed, Mason asked if it was snowing, I said yes, he said lets not go..I said fine and we went back to sleep. But then, oh, around 7:30am he wakes up and says lets go.. He does the driving so it was Okay with me.. This picture is the road out of our village. Once you get to the Autobahn, then the roads are fine..
It took us about 2 hours to get where we were going..
There wasn't a lot of vendors selling their treasures. So we were a little disappointed, but with all the snow we've had the last few days, it probably kept people home.. The other hiccup we had was everyone speaks French... Gee, amagine
that... so talking to them is interesting.. I love to just listen to them talk... It's sure a pretty language...
Mason found he's Christmas present.. of coarse it is a clock.
It's a nice one.. I liked it too...
I found what I really, really wanted but couldn't afford it..
It's a full length shabby chic French mirror that is to die for...
Not only was it expensive but I don't think we could of gotten it in our car. It was the first thing I've found here that I really would liked to have taken home with us...
Oh well.. maybe I'll get lucky and find another one that's not so expensive.. Mason bought me a silver serving tray I liked, so I didn't go home empty handed...
After we left the market, we drove to Trier
Germany to walk through the Christmas
Market. It was fun.. I really enjoyed this one. Lots of people, lots of crafts to look at, lots of food to choose from and of coarse Gluhwein.
This is me.. asking Santa to bring me that mirror... or should I say begging Santa to bring me that mirror.. I tried my hardest to make him believe that I still believe...and that Santa has always and will always have a place in my heart..
Do you think it will work????
I'll let you know.. I told him we even have snow so he could bring it in his sleigh since it wouldn't fit in our car...
I did my best.......
The food at the Christmas market was fabulous.. I had never seen these before... So we had to try one... It's called Dampfnudeln....Oh my, it was wonderful... It's like a very light bread filled with a berry sauce, then they put some kind of cream sauce over the top with either more berries, cherries, chocolate or just about anything you want...it's served warm and on a cold snowy day, it was like heaven....
Mason and I shared one.. I could of easily eaten one by myself, but I'm already having an issue with my weight here...
On our walk back to the car, this church was just standing there looking so strong yet cold in the chilly winter day...
Another picture of the Church.. I just liked the way this picture came out.. so I thought I'd share it with you...
Trier is about an hour from our house, so we didn't have to far to drive to get home.. All in all it was a fabulous day trip.. we drove about 250 miles and got home just as the snow was starting to fall.
We stopped on the way home and took more snow pictures.. For me, there's just something about trees covered with fresh snow.
Nighty, night.....
